The chess team of S. Thomas' College, Bandarawela led by Induwara Weerarathna participated in the Sri Lanka Schools' Individual Chess Tournament 2022 - Badulla District and brought home many awards.

The following students emerged champions in their respective age group:

• Induwara Weerarathna: Under 20 Boys - Champion
• Adeesha Thilakarathne:  Under 15 Boys - Champion
• Nisal Thilakarathne - Under 13 Boys - Champion
• Hasiru Nawarathna - Under 9 Boys - Champion

The event was held on the 25th and 26th of June 2022 at Uva College, Badulla.  Several schools from the Badulla district competed at this event.
