Service of Nine Lessons and Carols

The Service of Nine Lessons and Carols was held on Sunday the 2nd of December 2012 at 5.00 pm at the Keble Memorial Hall. Rev. Fr. Nihal Fernando, Headmaster, S. Thomas’ College, Gurutalawa delivered the Christmas message.

In his message, Rev. Fernando preached that Christmas introduces us to the mystery of the incarnation. That is the mystery of God’s own son becoming flesh and coming to be among us. He stated that Christianity is a very humanistic religion which enables us to find ourselves to be the people we are made to become and to achieve our destiny.

“Christmas is a time to remember the people we have forgotten during the rest of the year and it’s a reason of great outpouring of goodwill and love. Christmas encourages generosity and gives people opportunities to share with the less fortunate. Christmas touches our hearts and opens them to God and other people”.

The service was well attended and the carols sung by the college junior, senior and staff choirs were a great blessing.
